The role of a teacher in a student centered classroom is much different, although equally important, to the typical teacher many teachers had for themselves growing up.  The teacher should work to create a situation which has the student be an active participant in the process of learning.  This can be done by creating goals and learning objectives that allow the student to demonstrate their ability or knowledge in a certain area.  Giving the students an opportunity to be involved in the decision making process in a class can also give them a greater influence over what and how they will learn.  Finding activities such as role playing or interactive presentations are important to pique student interest and eventually retention of important information.  Teachers in a student centered classroom should help students feel involved every step of the way.
